Hazelmere Junior School

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4's page all about the fantastic things that we are doing in 4G and 4C!

We have lots of exciting things happening this half term and will share them with you here.

Reminders

Just a few reminders for the week:

PE is on a Thursday afternoon - children to come to school in their PE kit. Please make sure they are wearing the correct kit. Earrings need to be removed by the child or before school, we are not allowed to help with this.

Homework has been set on edshed. There is a maths quiz and spelling games set to be completed every week. Children should know their logins and these have been sent home.

Please also make sure to be logging on to TT Rockstars. Playing the garage game will help you to learn your times tables.  This is a valuable tool to help the children learn their times tables as well as prepare them for the Multiplication Tables Check they will be taking in June. The soundcheck game mimics the real test.

What have we been learning about this week?

This week we are focusing on finishing off our explanation texts for our own cracking contraptions. We are considering the use of causal conjunctions as well as ensuring we are using the correct punctuation.

In maths we are continuing to think about decimals as well as celebrating World Maths Day on Thursday with some tricky puzzles to solve.

Next week (16.03.2025)

We hope you all have a wonderful two weeks and we look forward to welcoming you back to class on the 13th April.

Forest School

During the first half term, 4G will be doing forest school. Half of the class will be going on a Monday afternoon and the other half will be going out on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure they have the appropriate clothing.

Every Thursday one of the Year 4 classes visited Ghost Woods to experience Forest School in the Autumn term. We walk there and get the chance to explore and have the freedom to choose our activities. The swing is a popular activity as is building a mud kitchen and making a range of items out of wood.
