School Dinners

A healthy balanced lunch has been demonstrated to improve pupils’ concentration, attention, energy levels and academic performance. Schools are required to comply with nutrient based standards set by the Government and with this in mind our menus at Hazelmere are prepared in conjunction with Essex County Council’s School Meals advisors.

It is important that we are not only delivering what the children like to eat but we also ensure that all the nutrient based standards are met and these menus do that whilst containing many of our children’s favourites!

Our menus follow a three-week cycle and contain at least two different hot meals to choose from every day. In the main our food is home cooked on the school premises using locally sourced, fresh produce where available.

The current cost of a school dinner is £2.50 and meals should be paid for in advance via the payments option on our parent app Scopay. We do not accept cash payments.

If you think you may be entitled to claim Free School Meals for your child then do not hesitate to speak with our Office Staff who would be happy to advise you on eligibility and assist with your application if you wish.
